He Shou Wu is a very intersting Chinese herb indeed. It is the kind of herb that would turn even a hardened sceptic into a believer.
Classic for excellent Chinese herbs, it comes with an elaborate back story of miracles and perils over came...
And so...
As legend would have it before He Shou Wu( Mr. Black Hair) got his name he was just a balding drunk with no children and no virility...
One day after drinking a winky bitsy too much rice wine he goes a-wandering through the forest...
Eventually he passes out and when he wakes up he finds that he's fallen by a most enchanting plant..
he see's a plant who's vines are intertwined and it reminds him of a man and woman making love...
he thinks...maybe if I eat of this plant...then I will find a woman to make love too and bare many children...
! ! !
Viola...it works! he cooks up the roots with black beans to unlock the essences and starts taking his concoction faithfully...
within a month he starts to get a spring in his step and returns that familiar baby making feeling ; P
Before long his hair grows back, accept now it is more luxurious than ever...and he has many children and lives a long, vibrant and happy life - - keeping his full head of black hair for a very long time
They started calling him Mr. Black Hair or He Shou Wu....and that's the legend of He Shou Wu.
One of my favorite Chinese herbs and one of my favorite herbs all together.
