Yeah its a great record ... I like the instrumental track called 4th of july.... it sounds like fireworks would sound if they had music in them...
Hi infinite soul ..
I have a strange connection to U2 .. first of all, I met them with my sister after a gig they did in the SFX hall in Dublin, Christmas eve, 1982 ... I was 16 ... it was the begining of the WAR tour ...the concert was incredible and after that gig, they signed our tour programs which had the photo of the boy on the front, the same boy on the cover of the Albums BOY and WAR ... then, years later I got to know that boy and he became a mate ... he, Peter Rowen, is now a photographer in Dublin and I ended up hiring him to take some photos for a project I was doing ... so he photographed me ... Lol ..
In those days, it was quite easy to meet U2 .. Dublin is a small town .. I walked passed Bonos house one time in 1986 when he lived in a town called Bray in the south coast of Dublin ... I thought, ok I will knock on his door and see if he answers ... so I knocked on his door and guess what.... he opened it .. Lol ... and whats more, he remembered me from that Christmas eve gig 4 years before ...
anyway .. I always liked them ... moreso the early stuff ... I think October is a great record ... the song Tommorow in particular is a favorite and posseses a really mystical Irish sound from the Uillean pipes, played on that October album by a chap called Vinny Kilduff ... and heres yet another connection, Vinny Kilduff played in an Irish Group called In Tua Nua who I ended up working with as a member of their road crew in 1986.... thats not all, Steve Wickham who played the Violin on the song Sunday Bloody Sunday on U2s WAR album, later played with a group called the Waterboys ... and I ended up shaking a tambourine on stage with those guys in 1988 at a charity benifit gig they did in aid of the homeless in Dublin.. ....
anyway .. thats my U2 story .....
Dublin is a small town ... Lol ...

This is what they looked like in 1982 ... when the Edge actually had hair ... Lol ..
