Developing mind and will power
POSTURE: With your feet together, the body erect and the mouth closed, tilt your head back as far as it will go and keep your eyes wide open. EXERCISE: Concentrating on the crown of your head, inhale and exhale rapidly and vigorously through the nose with the bellows method 25 times will suffice to begin with.
Bellows breathing: Bellows Breathing (forceful breathing) is a traditional yoga breathing technique used to energize the body, increase alertness and clarity of mind. It might also help to increase digestive power and to boost metabolism in the body.
Bellows Breathing:
- Inhale and exhale rapidly through your nose, keeping your mouth closed but relaxed. Your breaths in and out should be equal in duration, but as short as possible. This is a noisy breathing exercise. This produces a quick movement of the diaphragm, the chest and the abdomen suggesting a bellows. (or breathing with abdomen)
- Do not do more than 25 seconds on your first try. Each time you practice, you can increase your time by five seconds or so, until you reach a full minute.
