Mahjong, also spelled mah jongg, is a game that originated in China. One of the myths of the origin of mahjong suggests that Confucius, the Chinese philosopher, developed the game in about 500 BC. The three dragon (cardinal) tiles also agree with the three cardinal virtues bequeathed by Confucius. The myth also claims that Confucius was fond of birds, which would explain the name ("mahjong" - sparrow).

Thanks Semile ;)
I love Mahjong....it's one of my most favorite games. I have it on my computer and play it nearly everyday.
Very interesting, Ara thanks for sharing. I never knew that much about it.
China is famous for 'fortunetelling' ... ;)) there is another one: interesting history too "Dominoes reading":
Mostly today dominoes are primarily used for social games, but not always, some believe their original use was for the mystic art of magic, divination and fortune telling in China since 12 century to this day. Many of the original secrets of fortune telling with dominoes have been lost and corrupted through history, like with everything else, but enough have survived to make predictive readings still possible. In the West Romany Gypsies have and still do practice fortune telling with dominoes from the 18th-century to this day. Who knew? … ;))

Wow...that is really interesting! In Texas all the old timers play dominos and they're mostly Christian...wouldn't they be shocked to know they are -playing with a tool of divination. LOL
Oh man, this brings back memories. I loved playing Mahjong when I were a child. :)
.... and now it is used as 'oracle reading' ... ;))
