An experience that continues to fill me with wonder:
Invisibility, Contact, and the Denver Airport
Excerpt:
In December of 2011, Tom and I were once on a long wait for our plane at the Denver airport, so I listened to these tones at the gate with the sense of having "time", since we had a ninety minute wait, and I focused my attention on fine-tuning the equalizer. It was downloaded onto my laptop in iTunes, and I happily sat with headphones on, immersed in that activity for... well, until I looked up and the place was completely empty. Lights off, no Tom, no airline officials, no people at all. It really felt quite strange and bewildering. I started walking down the corridor, and realized that it had gotten quite late. The place was pretty dark, and it was a good ten minutes before I found Tom. He was so angry at me, thinking that I'd just got up and left. I hadn't moved from where I'd sat about ten feet from him the entire time. When he told me that they'd been calling my name because my seat was empty, well, that was when it dawned on both of us that I had disappeared. Yes folks, I went invisible at the Denver Airport while listening to "Smart.mp3", and Tom was there when it happened.
