Can A Soul Incarnate In A Computer?

When debating on 'Artificial Intelligence', sometimes you are told that 'everything in the universe is conscious', therefore a computer must be conscious too! You are even told that a computer can be possessed by spirits. This is then taken to mean that fears of terminator-like 'rise of the machines' to take over the world should be taken seriously! So it is no longer 'artificial intelligence' at all. No, it is not technology any more. It is now a full blown incarnate evil spirits, a 'works of the devil' that 'no human can understand'!

This happens when you insist that a computer is actually nothing but a clockwork device no different from a series of gears and gogs. In this way, the idea that a computer can be 'intelligent' is misguided. So the advocate of the devil now switches gears and talk of spirits that can be incarnate in machines, or that machines being inherently consciou is plausible. But can the 'panpsychic' idea that 'everything is conscious' means that a computer can truely become 'intelligent' like a human being? I don't think so! First, everything is not conscious. I don't think that is the proper stand of panpsychicsm. If everything was conscious, there is realy no need for the evil spirits to waite for a human being to create a sophisticated computer. They can possess TV sets, vehicles, chairs stones etc. Those spirit would simply incarnate in your car and voila, it now becomes 'artificial intelligence' driving you to wherever it chose!

In panpsychicsm, we say that 'everything is proto-conscious', not 'everything is conscious'. Proto-consciousness is, in some way, like 'potential energy'. So it is a suggestion that consciousness is fundamental in nature even though no everything at every time is manifestly conscious. Movement is fundamental in the sense that it doesn't arise from a combination of things that each of them is not itself movement. But, as you can see, this does not mean that everything is in a state of motion. An object can still stand still, even if movement is fundamental properties of objects. It is in this sense of 'stopping from moving' that things such as stones, tables etc are not conscious. They are sort of 'sleeping', and even a conscious human can cease being so in a deep sleep. So it is not true to say 'everything is conscious', but consciousness is a fundamental property of all things, nevertheless.

A computer cannot be conscious because it is designed purposefully to mimic human activities without being conscious. Pascal's adding machine is designed to add numbers unconsciously in that non of the individual activities by the gears etc act with intend to summing numbers. They are just being moved by adjacent gears, and ultimately by humans, in a totally blind way. We don't need any incarnation of 'spirit' to explain how addition of numbers comes about. The process can be perfectly understood by a human, and it is very easy to do that. The fact that both the addition machine and the brain arrives at the same end: adding numbers, doesn't mean that they work the same way.

But a computer works exactly like a Pascal's adding machine! Inspect each and every component as it works, and you find it doing simple task that are, not different from 'movement of gears'. One transistor drives an adjacent transistor just like gears drives adjacent gears. The whole thing is totally blind! Complexity is not 'magics'. If each and every activity is blind, then a 'complex' combination of such activities results in nothing but a complex, blind machine. Anything else other than this is sorcery! Perhaps a spirit could incarnate somewhere in a transistor, but a computer is made purposefully not to work on such. This is because the aim was to create a machine that can be used and controled by a human being. Incarnation of 'spirits' would merely bring uncertainties to how the computer works and it becomes unreliable. It was for this reason that we wanted a computer to do the task, rather than a human doing it. The 'spirit' in human brings about what will be 'errors' from the point of view of those who want to employ the 'computer'. If you don't understand the spirit workings in the brain, which I suppose this is the case for scientists etc, then they will only seem like errors to you, and you will want a machine that 'doesn't have such errors', and a computer is precisely such a machine.

On the other hand, the brain works in a totally different way from a computer. A brain is not an 'ensemble of blind events' that each can be understood by a human being. Each component forming the brain, down to molecular level works in a 'chaotic' manner as influenced by the surrounding environment in a totally unpredictable way. If we were seeking a theory of 'soul interaction with matter', then we will not want one that results in absurdities such as 'why the soul does not incarnate in a stone etc'. A theory that allows a soul to incarnate in a computer is precisely such a theory. But if we suppose that the soul takes the advantage of microscopic wigglings, then we can readily explain why it incarnates in thr brain but not in a stone. This is because the brain has various means for amplifying and cohering those microscopic wigglings. On the other hand, the man made computer has none and does not tolerate any 'wigglings' that those tidy brains in tech doesn't understand, as they only brings about 'errors'.

  • Practicaly speaking I see no need to emphasize 'not being a soul but being a consciousness that can reincanate'. Personally, I use this two views to reinforce one another rather than as opposing views. It isn't a change in the relevant idea as such. It can be seen as just a different way of understanding the same phenomenon.
  • With regards to the so-called Raelians.....I have heard a commentary repeated on ACC, about "not being a soul," multiple times...BUT....Never have I read any sound arguments, nor succinct elaborations, upon this matter's significance and relevance......So being supra-consciousness, is the same thing...
Need we make a distinction between such terms...??

It's like saying that you do approve of chickens, but you cannot countenance cockerels and hens...Seems pointless really and especially when repeated in almost every post and personal status comment...
  • Yea, I wanted it that way: to motivate some discussion about consciousness, soul, energy, reincarnation etc and the manner in which 'spirit' might interact with matter. I appreciate your contributions, and welcom more members to discuss these things.
  • Yes indeed, my friend....One of our prized esoteric axioms, is that; "all is energy." It truly explains the operation of the created universe and beyond....

BTW, a good topic for us to dissect and digest....You have a "like" from me, for this...
  • I find it easier to understand reincarnation by thinking of consciousness as a form of 'energy' much like light. Light can be absorbed by matter, eg in some 'endothermic' chemical reaction. But when the light have been thus absorbed, it becomes indiscernable anymore. It now seems to have ceased existing and we now have chemical energy instead. However, once the matter burns, it releases this chemical energy and converts it back to light!

In a similar way, I see 'soul' as to be essential in formation of the body as it is, and that if you were to examine the body, you might not easily discern 'soul' for it has 'stepped down' and become 'physical form of energy' in the process of incarnation. The dieing process will be like 'burning of fuel' which releases light energy to the 'empty space' (preferably, aether). So the soul too 'incarnates' into the aether during death. When it does so, it changes the state and it is nolonger easily identifiable with 'physical energy'.
  • In the same manner in which the human mind believes in a flat earth...At levels higher than your soul, which is a reflection of spiritual will, you will find your true self, the divine monad....Through the process of evolution, one eventually unites the monad with the person incarnated.....An ascension....Then and only then can you choose, truly, how, where and why you are to be incarnated...For what purpose......Before that degree of consciousness, your persona travels in darkness and BELIEFS are just that...Beliefs......They are often divorced from the truth....We call this illusion....Illusion is a mental aberration, many possess, but with growth, one learns to master self....

And why would you need to be clones to find your true expression...?? Clones are frail......Indeed an entire race of beings discovered their mistake and chose to return to natural genetic expression....Those from Zeta Reticulli.....They now realise that cloning destroyed their potential and now seek redemption, through Earth human genetics....
And even more absurd, is the notion that you are truly able to decide your destiny, through becoming a computer.....

This glamour abounds.....and is not disimilar to the religious glamours and illusions, that BELIEVE that people may "come back as moths."
Truly laughable and when we each reach a certain spiritual maturity, we may easily dissolve such fancies....Which are the fancies of minds who lack true guidance....

Moreover, the word "soul" is simply a word.....It possesses supra-consciousness and exists within the cosmic aetheric planes of atma--buddhi--manas.......Note that it's lowest aspect is as a substance upon the manasic (mental) plane, which we call a light body.....

When I use the word soul I do not conflate that usage with religions...
Moreover, the soul itself is but a reflection and not the causal energy, present in the spiritual levels of the monadic and logoic planes...
So true supra-consciousness is gleaned by the soul, for the use of the divine MONAD....
Likewise, microcosmically, the mind of the incarnatee is much more than his brain, as that organ is but a receiver "crystal" for energies outside of the physical form.....Thus we may explain the Near Death Experience, when a person's brain is flat lining on a monitor, when dead, also on the ECG, BUT, outside of the body, within the aetheric double, one's mind functions and one's senses are more accute.......
So the brain is a receiver of energies from the mind....Likewise, the soul is a receiver of energies and impulses, from the monad.....
  • Please illustrate for me the difference between a transistor working inside a computer in which a soul (or a supra-consciousness etc) is incarnate and a transistor working without any soul incarnate.

BTW I too don't think that I am a 'soul' or such. A transferable 'supra-consciousness' makes more sense to me. However, the end effect is the same whichever way. So it doesn't matter!
  • Hi! I'am not a soul but I believe my supra-consciousness can download into a computer as well as download into my new cloned body after my physical body dies.
  • Moreover I would suggest that even an evolving soul, experiencing the animal kingdom expression, would not choose the life of a machine...
Of course, there are souls experiencing mineral vehicle experience, but this question was directed at (I suspect) the notion of a HUMAN LEVEL expression and soul experience and not one incarnating into matter for the first time, at rudimentary levels.....
  • In answer to this question, a resounding NO........
We are each comprised of a Spiritual Monad---Soul---Persona incarnated...

It is that spark of the creator, at Monadic levels, that CHOOSES to evolve here, in Earth chain....As an individualized aspect of oneness....

That divine monad (spark of God) has freewill to decide where and how that learning expression is achieved....This useful expression always chooses the greater vehicle expressions, rather than the retrograde expressions, within nature and certainly among man made machines....

So on the evolutionary curve of spiritual learning in matter,.it would be counter-productive to express as a human in one life and a dog or insect, in the next....That notion, which is even cherished among Hindus, that a person may "come back as a moth," is totally erroneous....
One grows through the human kingdom expression, unto that kingdom above human, in which the ascended masters express themselves....The fifth kingdom, in which the soul is realised in matter and spirit joins in complete achievement...All the rays are united in experience...

And for exactly the same reasons that a man or woman, will not reincarnate as a cat, or monkey, spirit will not choose a machine life......There would be no benefit to evolution...Spirit would not allow it.....It would have no purpose other than to sate the glamours of evil human "scientists," who seek "control" over nature and spirit...A control they will lack at higher levels, unless they relearn...

Such fools may speak of their "abilities" to trap souls...In truth they do not even comprehend the purpose of a soul, nor it's structure (atma-budhi-manas) and certainly would lack any power to deflect spiritual will at monadic levels....A will that chooses any given incarnational experience....
