This is a very important question, can we have a spiritual awakening while society remains the same? Can we collectively change the inner without changing the outer? I ask this because I observe many people who behave as if this is the case, chasing after their own happiness and fulfillment while ignoring the issues Humanity faces as a whole. I can certainly see the appeal of doing so, places like the political world are very ugly, but ignoring them is not the answer. In fact, that kind of apathy is exactly what allowed politics to become so ugly.
To me, the answer is obvious: we need both an inner and an outer revolution. We need a revolution that erases the line between the "two". Your inner battles aren't unique to you, there are millions going through the same things. The self-destructiveness of fear, that affects every one of us, and we collectively manifest that in our wars, business and politics. You may believe it's only an elite few responsible, and while that's partially true, it's the responsibility of the masses to change things. Without the unconscious participation of the people, the systems of corruption would collapse instantly.
I see a great potential within the spiritual community to assist with this change. People like Martin Luther King and Gandhi, their connection to the Divine played a huge part in the social changes they helped to create. They took what they found Within, and shared it with everyone. They bridged the inner and the outer.
There's a need to look deeply at what it means to be "spiritual". I've shared my own feelings about that word, and I don't believe being "spiritual" necessarily makes you any closer to Spirit. Many, if not most, "spiritual" people started down that path because they weren't happy with their lives. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it often means their spiritual quest is rooted in a very negative image of the material realm. Their spirituality comes from a rejection of their "normal" lives.
Religion works this way too, for instance, Christianity teaches that the Earth is the realm of Satan. The natural world is supposed to be evil and brutish, and man is inherently sinful. Absolute rubbish, but the damage from these beliefs has been done. We've been indoctrinated with this idea that the spiritual realm is someplace else, and we get there by denying the physical. The spiritual realm and the physical realm are at odds with each other, they're supposed to be opposite and conflicting paths.
Just because someone applies the "spiritual" label to themselves doesn't mean years of this conditioning suddenly disappear. These religious beliefs have been firmly embedded in our societal values, even if you took religion away, they'd still be there. So spirituality has become largely about denial of the material, just look at meditation. For many, meditation is about blocking the material realm, blocking out the physical senses. That's why you're supposed to get into a comfortable position, in a quiet place, with eyes closed. The physical senses are viewed as distractions from inner peace. The outer is chaos, the inner is peace.
I'm telling you something completely different though, that the outer chaos is only a reflection of the inner chaos. While this is understood in spiritual theory, it's often denied in spiritual practice. Beware the practices that dull the senses, beware of practices that seek the Divine through denial of the material. In drawing a line between the inner and outer, you cut yourself in half. You have your "normal" life and your "spiritual" life, and this is the kind of spirituality that I caution people about. The kind that creates separation.
For me, meditation is something that can happen anyplace and anytime. It's simply presence and awareness, no more complicated than that. It has no requirements, no preconditions. I cringe a little when people tell me they don't have enough time or money to really be spiritual. To connect with the Divine, you don't need time or money, all you need is Now, and you've always got Now. If you want to view the material realm as a distraction, that's exactly what it becomes, but it doesn't have to be that way.
God Is Everything, but this is impossible to experience for someone who is divided within. You may believe God Is All, it's a popular belief now, but is it truly your experience? Do you see God within everyone and everything? If not, that's okay! This is about self-healing, not self-judgment, and the key here is to erase the line between your inner and outer worlds.
Now back to the political world, I'll bet there's many who were hoping I wouldn't bring that up again, but turning a blind eye to the problems are exactly why these problems have gotten so enormous. This is all interconnected. Here in the US a portion of our honest work goes to spreading murder and terror. This is totally unacceptable and it's up to all of us to fix it. If you're a "spiritual" person, yet you ignore these things, you have no business claiming you have anything to do with Spirit. There's nothing spiritual about ignoring the plight of your brothers and sisters. The individual who ignores the collective is ultimately denying a part of themselves.
On the Galactic Free Press, we often feature political stories, things many wouldn't consider spiritual at all. Not just positive ones either, but stories of massive corruption and ignorance. This isn't to promote a negative world-view, simply a realistic one. A negative person will react negatively, promoting things like cynicism and apathy as a way of coping with this kind of news. A more proactive person though, will start looking for ways of fixing things, both inner and outer. These are the kind of people we're here for, not people who simply wait and hope for change, but the people who truly are the change.

Interesting thoughts, Will, thank you. I agree very much that the world cannot be changed without our input, I try to understand how we can live in wealth when so many are poor and in pain and it seems like collective blindness. Through meditation we align with the the spiritual self and bring in the higher frequency needed to change hearts and minds and awaken us to our creative potential as a whole society. The trick is to program your higher mind with heartfelt intention and allow it free reign to bring in the high tone frequency even if you are busy in traffic or stressed out at work... staying in alignment with your higher self as much as possible will open new doors and experiences, it's awesome :-)
mediation brings harmonty in body mind & spirit, and by lying down people can let go completely & fall asleep if they need to,Many people don't relax driven by money & other worries, Many of us in the world are run by the mind pushed by the system forced on us, which is transforming in these as we evolve to a balanced way of living as we follow our intuition and hearts,we are balancing the masculine & feminine. Mediation is just the opposite of denying or escaping the body,it takes us deep into ourselves to unite body mind & spirit and restore inner harmony. As we let go of all that doesn't serve us we open to more love & wisdom & return refreshed to share it with the world so its an essential part of keeping balance.Just a few minutes slow relaxing breathing or lying on the ground both earths us & connects us to the source of love. Its all one .Its not escaping the body, we go deep into the body to harmonise the body & mind to be able to feel the whispers of our soul xx. If anyone finds it hard to cope in ife or relax try deep relaxation, relaxed breathing, meditation, simple not fancy techniques. as we enter the silence we hear our true selves .there are many free lovely guided meditations on you tube, we are all drawn to what we need.or if it doesn't feel right for some to mediatate at all that's what they need, we all just need to do what opens our hearts both caring for our inner & outer worlds xx love peace to all life, and beings xxx xxx
You're welcome rsolor :)
Very true that we all need to put our spirituality / consciousness to work through actions in fields that inspire each of us... daily! That is energy & consciousness at work. Though I'm mostly busy with projects on health, conservation, ecosystem cleanup and community service, in Feb'15 I make a daring attempt at an International Seminar on World Religions & Metaphysics to impress upon the scholars - New Age Metaphysics of the Human Being that manifest Unity Consciousness, within and without. yes we are all atoms that are in motion, that create the many solid and gas creations we all call life.
i believe more and more the atom is not mindless, nor can it be choke collared so as to be controled, it is not mindless.
e.s.p. is also not mindless, and i feel it is given when needed, or deserved in that persons life, in many events that defy logic or reason.
blessings to all of us for we are all one
What is being Spiritual and what is Spirituality?
When you begin to have a growing personal awareness that you are a free individual spirit and you somehow feel connected to everything else around you, be it other people, animals, plants, birds, the elements or other forms of nature, you begin to understand that your every action affects everything and everyone else around you. You know that this happens because every living thing around you also has its own life force and you are indeed all connected by invisible strands of energy.
You begin to see that all life on earth is symbiotic, where a mutual give and take happens at every step, without which living is not possible. For example, you eat food and remain alive, because plants or animals give up their life force for you. The elements of earth, water, fire, air and space nourish your physical being. You introspect and begin to wonder if all of this is as per the design of a ‘Great Spirit’. You wonder if this spirit could be ‘God’. This is Spiritual Awareness.
Being Spiritual is your own personal journey where you modulate your thoughts, words and deeds, so that they become aligned with benefiting from, as well as serving all symbiotic life on Earth; that you feel has been placed here by the Great Spirit.
You begin to understand that Mother Earth has her own living body that stretches from the core of her belly to the heavenly skies and in this capacity she is called the living breathing Gaia that supports all life.
You make a commitment to protect and sustain her, for it is in the interest of all human beings as well as all other forms of life that live upon her. Whenever you think or act within this frame of mind, you are deeply seated in the subject of Spirituality.
Spirituality is also the art and science of going within and speaking to your own consciousness, using techniques of meditation or the breath or yoga or dhyan or kriyas or even silent contemplation. These techniques quieten the mind chatter of the Ego and allow your spirit to speak to you.
Science or Spirituality, Science vs Spirituality, Science of Spirituality and Spirituality in Science are all transient perceptions of the ever-evolving human mind. The unchanging truth however, is that Science and Spirituality are two different views of the singular unifying thing called Existence, which was, and still is, being manifested by God. God is not a him or a her, God is All Manifest.
Science is the masculine aspect (Shiva), a finer vibration of thought, and Spirituality is the feminine aspect (Shakti), a denser vibration of being, of God's creation. These energies exist at the megacosmic, marcocosmic and microcosmic levels of our very own dimensions of existence.
All human beings have within themselves the masculine Shiva energy as well as the feminine Shakti energy (The Holy Merkaba / Yang and Yin), which are easier to perceive at the macrocosmic level (the senses) of perception. A human being uses their pre-dominant energy most of the time to perceive existence and then act accordingly. Dominance of the masculine energy has created most of the problems in the world today.
The real separation between Science and Spirituality happened when the scientific mind dominated its spiritual being and moved away from properly understanding each subsequent layer of existence. Now, science is understanding existence better with its own devices and reducing that separation. The direct example of this are the indigenous peoples of the earth. They always dwelt in spirituality and understood existence and maintained their balance with nature. The scientists on the other hand, took the scientific route, destroyed the earth along the way and are now coming back to where they took off admitting that "we need to save the earth", "consciousness directs matter" and "neutrinos travel faster than light". The scientists are a bit late in their realization though, but many lessons have been learnt by humanity through their mistakes.
Blessed are those who balance Shiva and Shakti all the time by moving in and out of them, as need be, for they see Existence through the eyes of God. They are our teachers of Unity Consciousness. They are the ones who are bringing balance and peace on earth. They are the ones who are creating the new earth child of the... contd at http://fromthealphatotheomega.com/science
It is very interesting and substantial talk. I'd like to say that it can’t be just bad work of the lightworkers, it is about the substance of our life, something very important. I prefer to take the basics, meanings, to make a working picture.
I'll be honest, I don't believe in Ascension. Personally, I found there are two beliefs about the absolute nature of life. One is about Absolute creating eternal value. Another is about Absolute as the fight between good and evil. The first is preached by Christianity, the second by the Occult and they are the most adverse to each other. It seems that author took the first sentiment and attributed it to the second force, blaming the first force for the opposite sentiment afterwards. In history, both sides tried to influence each other, so we can see occult motives in christian writings, like mentioned denial of flesh and the world, and purism in Buddhism. It may be not easy to sort it out. I’d say, you need to go through the whole one way to get somewhere.
Author tries to solve the situation with better actions, meditating in a better way, even taking the material world in meditation. However, original meditation is about separation from evil matter, Ascension, as the Occult believes in life circling between Spirit and matter. In Christianity, a person takes his role by taking life in its universal value. I'd say, if the whole thing remains a mess, it means that we need not just better actions, but more substantial good.
I am sure, there is supreme Good and meaning for humankind. Humankind will unite for this good and succeed. We have an opportunity to decide the supreme meaning for humankind and build it, isn't it great? So far, the Occult tried to realize its meaning in global Ascension that had to happen from 2012 to 2020. I'll be straight, it failed spectacularly. Personally, I want to join all Good that makes Life without limits and evils, always creating life with my friends. Me and my friends are making a way of life to go on, to live as a new creative society.
Also, I agree, taking real problems and healing them with positive solutions is positivity.

~A thought provoking topic, thanks for sharing the essay, Will. I suppose, from one perspective, it can be seen as a kind of: ‘What came first, the chicken or the egg?’ scenario ;-) Which is to say, from a multidimensional perspective, ‘Spiritual Awakening & Societal Change’ are enmeshed. On a mass level, anyway. Nonetheless… if pressed for a more definitive answer, I would say YES… technically, Spiritual-Awakening will come first. Keep in mind, the type of ‘Awakening’ I’m referring to, represents a paradigm shift not seen on the Gaian-Matrix since the ancient world… a tipping point in Human-Consciousness that will effectively recalibrate the ways we even conceive of ‘Society’. At the same time, it’s a real misstep to underestimate, or whitewash, the crucial role that ‘Meditation’ has played in our current state of affairs… which first & foremost, is tied directly to the planet herself; who’s also in the Divine-Process of reawakening. Massive repairs on Gaia’s ‘Christ-Grid’ are, among other more esoteric means & ways, a direct byproduct of authentic levels of ‘Meditation & Prayer’… a Spiritual-Discipline that covers works in effect since Humanities ‘fall’ after the catastrophes of Atlantis. While these methods can be mistaken as self indulgent, or simply a way of ‘blocking out the material realm’… this shadow is mainly due to ways some forms of ‘spirituality’ have been effectively co-opted by pop, ‘new-agey’ culture. The bigger picture is far more complex; as is our collective ability to fully ‘real’eyes the magnitude of these energies, & how they’ve enabled us to even get to this point in the current timeline. When it comes to ‘materialism’, it’s important to remember: ‘Reality’ as we ‘know’ it, is merely an elaborate hologram. Which isn’t to say that our experiences aren’t quite ‘real’… they are… it’s just that nothing is truly as it seems. More will be revealed. In the interim… the ‘roles’ those have played on multidimensional levels through Meditation & Self-Realization; are as meaningful as those of the Ground-Crew, working on grassroots levels to help manifest the Glory of the New Paradigm. Our ability to press forward?… directly connected to our own dark shadows & the high levels of injustice that come with them. Stand strong, Ashtar Massive. I know I'm not the best at articulating these ideas as ultimately, they transcend language & our experiential... I’m adding this essay by Kingsley L. Dennis & a vid from Alan Watts… I feel they can serve as a good addition to the conversation & come close to touching the Alchemical Gold. ~InLight555
The Akashic Age: Toward A New Era?
by Kingsley L. Dennis
Humanity has been on a historically long journey to finally arrive at a world that is complex and interdependent. We are at a point in human history were we are leaving behind one age and entering the next. The epoch we are leaving behind is the modern age. The epoch we are about to shift into has been given many names – digital, post-modern, new age, etc – yet has so far suffered from lack of true and genuine foresight. These periods of transition are also moments of criticality and opportunity, when catalysts for change exert a greater than normal influence on the outcome of events. At such periods current ideas, institutions, and beliefs tend to outlive their usefulness.
Yet there are guiding principles that can help us, if not to predict the future, then at least to foresee alternative models of the future. For example, we can see that many of our present systems seek growth through increasingly high complexity and numerous levels of organization, greater dynamism, and closer interaction and more delicate balance with the environment. Therefore, we can foresee a future that is highly connected and integrated; more decentralized; technologically advanced; more sustainably balanced; and non-locally interconnected. By ‘non-locally’ interconnected it is meant that physical objects/bodies – as well as human consciousness – maintain effective forms of relationships at a distance. The term ‘non-locality’ comes from the quantum sciences, which are central to offering the world a new paradigm of inclusive, intrinsic, and immediate oneness. It is a paradigm that helps to explain our inherent energetic connectivity, which forms a basis for the continued physical proximity and connectivity that develops in the world. This emerging new paradigm is the key in understanding what is referred to as the Akashic Age.
The path to an Akashic Age is a time of transition where our crises become our catalysts; and our disruptions become our driving force. To a large degree, these opportunities/disruptors will be based on how we utilize our resources; communications in how we connect and collaborate; and consciousness in our patterns of thinking and inner coherence. In such times when there are major fluctuations in worldviews, values, and beliefs, we are compelled to re-organize how we think and do things. Such moments are ripe for new models to emerge. These new models are likely to first emerge on the periphery – as ‘anomalies’ – before creeping toward the centre to overwhelm and out-do the centralized and self-centered old systems. These new models also display a marked difference in that they operate through de-centralized and distributed channels, as horizontal networks of connection and collaboration; rather than as the vertical, top-down hierarchical systems of control in the old systems. Whereas previous models of civilization continued to grow through increasing centralization and hierarchy, they have now entered history with a death-cry and the onset of final collapse. The emerging new models all display a marked connectedness which, in the terminology of quantum science, can be referred to as ‘entanglement’…
Toward an Akashic Age
It often happens that an awakening in consciousness rouses the need to get involved in service for a common purpose; based on an awareness that each of us is ultimately entangled with all others within the web of life. What we choose to do today will be inherited by the world to come. We each thus have an obligation to foster a more integral, empathic, and sustainable world.
For our planet to have any future that is not only sustainable but also fosters human developmental growth and well-being, we need an Akashic Age that promotes the natural integrated flow of living systems. Such an era would encourage social as well as self-actualization, and plants the seeds of a new culture that respects and honors the Earth and her diverse peoples. The Akashic Age represents a new stage in human consciousness, a stage that allows humanity to rise and overcome all challenges it confronts. It is up to us to allow the possibility that such an Age may be more than just a possible future. It can be OUR future, if we truly want it to be.

This societal change, taking place right now, is a product from awakening itself. A new pattern, a new, long forgotten magnetic field. A new frequency of connectivity is being reintegrated, allowing earth's consciousness grid to become one, as a whole community all together. Exactly as with many other cosmic houses, you might probably know, along the construction of creation.
Without awakening, no societal change would be taking place. The experiment of polarity dissociation, the fall from grace, or whatever you like to call it, is actually reaching its end.
It's a relief. I've been set apart from her, for far too long already. I couldn't possibly take this disruptive frequency, this long walk into the darkness, anymore.
It's has been pretty harmful, breaking one of my many arms off. My beautiful spiraled arms, made of melodic light.
Friends, it would serve all much better, if we just acknowledge all that’s not going well on this planet, but put more of our energies into what we can do now for everyone’s betterment. Wailing about how badly everything is messed up and who’s doing it doesn’t really work - It only manifests more of the same. New Earth is very much here and many inspired people on the ground are working on it daily!
I work with some groups on the ground and we don’t even go up against anyone! We work directly with the people through various platforms and people ARE changing for the good of all at a VERY FAST PACE. It’s all about how well you see every situation and build the new bridge that people find easy to cross, from the old to the new.
We don't pray / beg / wait / hope / ask / demand God / ET's / Aliens / Devas / White Brotherhood / Blue Fatherhood / Red Motherhood and what not (bless all of them of course, because they're doing what they're meant to do in their embodiments and spaces) for help (oh please compensate for our dramas, shortcomings, incapabilities, confusion and laziness). We first get done with what is bothering us in our personal earth lives. After that is done, we embody our higher aspirations / higher self. Then we get develop the skill sets for doing all the amazing things we've dreamt of doing for the benefit of everyone on this planet.
Then we get down to doing it every day of our lives! The Holy Spirit of God is alive and well in people... and it is at work. If it's alive in you, you'll be at work. If you see it in others, you'll be inspired to follow their cue. If you don't have any of it, you’ll be holding your head and crying tears of grief and hopelessness! And yes, you be cursing the cabal / reptilians / draconians and whoever else, saying it's all their fault!
I’ve met many old 'New Agers' in the world now who started their movements in the early 70's - the 1st wave Indigos. I can see many of them are now really fatigued and cursing that it didn't work then and it surely won't work now - They are absolutely wrong! Compassionately, they are only tired and out of fuel. Perhaps they should just let the new blood do it. They should stop their pessimism, that's for sure!
For goodness sakes... the present version of humanoid that we embody does have the physical, mental and spiritual capabilities to bring in ‘The Age of Aquarius’ on their own. I spoke this out at the 1st World Parliament on Spirituality on the great day - 21st Dec 2012.
Take a look at what some of us have been doing directly with the people since 2012 and even before that. This is all New Earth work.

I’m not putting up these links here to ask anyone on Ashtar Command to join our movements. Had tried that in 2012 - There were more egoistic pessimists here who said that The World United cannot happen and a World Parliament on Spirituality will be a flop. That’s another reason I don’t post our work on this platform. Well, the 1st World Parliament on Spirituality from 17th Dec to 21st Dec 2012 in India was attended by over 3000 people from over 50 countries and they all went back after it and started work and also spread the movement further. It happened more because of the average well intentioned human being!
I’ve put these links up here for you to see that a lot of work is going on with the masses. So go and just do your own thing. Just my personal work on health (last 3 links) is in over 50 countries with over a million people, transforming lives, healing humanity and Gaia. Any focused person can achieve any of this and much more, isn’t it? All we’ve each got to do is just sing our own soul song as loud as possible, instead of dancing to others tunes - http://fromthealphatotheomega.com/song
