So I read a 3 page article on Christian Dominionism, and it is some kind of creepy. So what is it? Christian Dominionism is the erroneous mindset that the world should be dominated by Christianity. Every aspect of every person's existence is to be influenced and owned by that religion. Imagine a theocratic totalitarian planet existing under a Christian Sharia Law and you get the picture. Personally, I think the idea of a homogenized planet is just awful, but amazingly, there are some who want that to be reality. According to the article, "The March of Christian Dominionism" by Justin Rosario, Dominionists gravitate toward the Right Wing because this is where fear and anger runs rampant. So these people basically capitalize on it to advance their goals. Luckily, they are a small minority, but still, to think that these sorts are out there is very unsettling.
Dominionists, according to the article, are basically using the religion as a cover to gain power and control. Hardly surprising, looks like everyone wants to control everyone. So idiotic. Anyway, some Dominionists erroneously believe that America was founded as a Christian nation, and part of their mission is to get it back to that non existent state. On this issue, I just don't believe how people can so easily forget a thousand years plus of history. Part of the reason that the founders did not create this nation to be Christian is because they remembered the past history of Europe and the impact the church had on it. They were smart enough, thank god, to not set us up for a repeat of history. It's just strange, it's like some people today are just stuck on stupid or something and just refuse to realize that turning this country into a theocracy is just wrong and dangerous.
I've checked out one site that wants a theocratic planet and it's chilling. Looks like they have a plan of how things will run, from gay marriage to the economic systems. They're just working on trying to make it happen. What's also unsettling is that these people want to change the school curriculum in an effort to basically brainwash children. You're probably thinking that this will never happen, and if you're thinking that, you haven't heard about Texas. In Texas, they changed history books that are used in public schools to push a biased view of history. The slave trade was renamed, can't recall the name but it's not longer referred to as slavery. Some people of American history like Thomas Jefferson is being erased because his views weren't in line with what Christians want today. And there are still those who are trying to wipe away evolutionary theory from science books. WTF?!
Anyway, I could go into further just how god awful a theocracy would be, and how it goes against the very foundations of what this country is about, and how it's an affront to the right of self determinism that every person on Earth has, but then this post would be too long. But I will say that I find it offensive that these people think they have the right to push their religion down our throats and wield control over us. To have the audacity to attempt such agendas is so very wrong. I just hope that in the end, these bastards will fail.
