Dear Friends,

Kundalini Awakening is the beginning of THE JOURNEY and not the destination.

The terminology, the words commonly used to explain the process and experiences associated with the practice, may make it look a bit complex but in fact it is very simple and it requires not more than patience and a little regular practice.

Before I share, I would like to add a foreword.

It is all about entering the micro level from macro level of existence. The key is being effortless- harder you try, difficult it will be.

In initial days of practice one may have a feeling of being carried away with the waves of thoughts during practice with eyes closed, do not react to your thoughts because reaction will complete the cycle of action and a new action shall begin- remain calm and still- BECOME AN OBSERVER of your thoughts- non-reactive and non-judgmental. ACCEPT THEM.

It may have begin to sound very easy, but it is not so because BECOMING AN OBSERVER, is the toughest part to master. We can choose to close the doors and windows to escape the noise from the surroundings but we cannot silence the noise inside, because there are no doors or windows to be closed. With practice you can BECOME AN OBSERVER.

The Technique:-

  • 1. Sit down with the both legs stretched in front.
  • 2. Place the left heel at the perineum ( Space between the anus and the scrotum / end of genitals)
  • 3. Place the right heel against the public bones just above the genitals.
  • 4. The sole of the left foot should be closely in touch with the right thigh. The right sole should spread along the left thigh.
  • 5. Keep the elbows slightly bend and place the wrist of the both hands with respective knees and Palms facing the sky.
  • 6. Your spine should be erect and straight. The spine, neck and head should be in a straight line.
  • 7 .Look downwards and bend your neck slowly until your chin touches the throat.
  • 8. Keep your eyes closed.
  • 9. Breathe smoothly and evenly

The time upto which you can comfortably remain in a yoga posture varies from individual to individual depending on one's fitness, age and will power. With regular practice it is possible to remain in the Perfect Posture (Siddhasana) for even a few hours. However, care must be exercised to check for discomfort during as well as after the asana. But 45 MINUTES with gradual practice is said to be ideal.

Benefits:-

  • It awakens the Kundalini Shakti (energy channels) and stimulates the brain.
  • It makes the mind attentive, alert and firm.
  • It calms the mind, gives clarity and improves concentration and memory.
  • It is excellent for increasing flexibility and curing stiffness in the knees and hips.
  • It is helpful in relieving asthma, heart disease, blood pressure, diabetes, indigestion and chronic fever.
  • It increases blood circulation in the lower back, pelvis and abdominal region and tones this area, resulting in better functioning of the reproductive and digestive systems.
  • It also stabilizes sexual energy and sublimates sexual feelings. This is achieved by the position of the feet, which presses into the groin. Thus it calms the mind and eliminates sexual tension.
  • It also helps reduce excess fat in the body especially in the abdominal region. It aids in better functioning of the digestive and excretory systems.
  • This yoga posture keeps the mind focused because it requires one to sit upright. It is a posture suggested for practicing Breath Control (Pranayama), Concentration (Dharana), Meditation (Dhyana) and Self-realization (Samadhi).
  • It purifies the NADI'S.

Do's and Dont's AND Contraindications:-

Do not practice is if you are suffering from sciatica.

Men who do not wish to practice celibacy should not perform this posture.

Tips for beginners: If you find it difficult to achieve this pose. It may be uncomfortable for you to cross your ankles at this angle, and you might feel pressure or a tingling sensation. In that case, you can use a pillow or a folded blanket between your legs to ease the direct pressure.

In case of discomfort one may alternate the leg which has to be raised.

This asana is called SIDDHASANA. "Siddha" means a Semi-divine Being with great sanctity, one who has attained perfection or attained spiritual upliftment. This posture gets its name because the person performing this pose attempts to emulate a sage who is perfect, a prophet who is accomplished, or a seer who is adept.Mastery over this asana helps one to acquire many supernal powers. While doing this asana, One must not force the body. Be aware of the feelings that the posture develops in various parts of the body. Close your eyes and taste peace.

  • Dear FW,

you being a part of divine, are divine yourself.

  • Dear FW,

We need to realize that gathering info wont bring around a change that we want to see, but I can assure that practicing it will surely bring a change - at least it will change one of us practicing it, for better.

Too much information doesn't help, but creates confusion.

Believing that one will ascend just because he / she has known too much about it, is like carrying the doctor's prescription in pocket and believing you will be healed or cured.

medicines need to be taken or ADMINISTERED for curing / healing.
