He’s never seen little green men or been beamed into an alien mothership but on Saturday American “Astro Political Activist” Stephen Bassettwill speak at Paddington RSL to help end what he calls the “truthembargo” on extraterrestrial contact.
The event is part of Mr Bassett’s 10- city tour of Australia, followinghis 19-city tour of Europe last year, through which he explains thehistory of aliens arriving on Earth and the efforts to keep these visitsunder wraps.
“For 14 years I’ve been engaging the UFO ET issue as part of a growingmovement to resolve it with full disclosure,” Mr Bassett said. “The ETpresence is quite real; most of the major governments, or components ofthese governments, know it and this has been kept from the people fortoo long.”
Mr Bassett said evidence of this was “massive” with “scores ofwitnesses, photographs, video, radar logs, Freedom of Informationdocuments” and high-profile whistleblowers.
He said these included Apollo 14 astronaut Dr Edgar Mitchell, MercurySeven astronaut Gordon Cooper and former defence minister of Canada PaulHellyer, to name a few.
According to Mr Bassett the evidence began to manifest itself about 1947and was quickly hushed to avoid piling more pressure on a planetalready buckling under the Cold War.
“We understand the reason for the embargo but we need it to end now,” hesaid. “It’s no longer appropriate to keep something this profound fromyour citizens.”
Beside the inherent value in knowing the truth, Mr Bassett said therewas much to be gained from his pressure campaign, as technologies foundin captured alien craft could change the course of human history. “It’s abit like asking, ‘What’s the benefit of knowing the Earth revolvesaround the sun but we’ve got the Gulf of Mexico filling up with oilright now and every year millions of people die from the pollution ofcarbon-based fuel?’ “
