Going For A Drive by Suzanne Maresca

One of our favorite things to do these days is to get in the car for a drive out in the country on the beautiful, twisty, roads in the wilds of New Jersey.

My daughter and I have some of our best conversations in the car, and music plays an important role in our whole transcendental driving experience.

There’s more going on than just our pure enjoyment of the scenery and of one another’s company.

Although I have to say that both of us are immensely grateful to be sharing this journey together. It’s important to have someone to witness one’s life and to be able to witness theirs.

Deep connection is what Humans are hard-wired and longing for, and it’s that longing that helps bring what we want to fruition and into our experience. I got lucky with my daughter.

Anyway, back to the drive. We enjoyed some superb weather here last year, starting with a late Spring that chased a truly awful Winter away. Summer is always enjoyable for all the time we get to spend outdoors, and this past Autumn was simply the most exquisite one I can ever remember.

The New Year brought frigid temps again though, and we haven’t seen the Sun very often for most of two months now. A bright, sunny day here is big motivation for us to hit the road and go out to enjoy it without freezing our buns off or spending a lot of money.

So we head out seeking the Sun, with no particular place to go but to follow what brings us joy. When it’s time to make a decision about which way to turn, there’s really no question. Which path fills the heart with joy and excitement? Into the Sun we go!

Driving metaphor number one ~ (and in agreement with Bashar) Follow your highest excitement!

Okay, yesterday as I was putting a glass baking dish away, I flashed on a vision of dropping it onto the tile floor where it would likely shatter into the proverbial million pieces.

That vision lasted for about a microsecond and never even got to the smashing part.

So we’re out for a drive today, and this somewhat violent flash of a vision comes into my head to speak of, kind of like a confession.

As so often happens when I bring up some kind of fabulous realization I just had, my daughter speaks to the profound wonderment as though she came into this world knowing it. This alternate-scenario, multi-dimensional awareness thing is something she does, too!

The process for her, though, is slightly different. Her rapid-play vision might include the hurling of the cast iron frying pan that she’s been cooking with out through the glass door.

Of course we aren’t going to do these things. We don’t even want to, but there the visions are.

Our discussion evolved into a contemplation of the fact that we actually do choose the timelines and dimensional realities that we wish to experience.

Would we consciously choose to have the experience that of all of our relationships be healthy and loving ones?

Would we consciously choose to allow all of our decisions to be sourced from the Heart?

Happily, my baking dish had an uneventful journey back into it’s resting place in the cabinet. The possibility that the dish would fall from my hands existed though, and I was given a vision of that alternate timeline.

I chose otherwise.

Driving metaphor number two ~ We’re the ones who get to choose!

I guess the last thing I want to say about our adventures through the countryside is that with every day that passes, and with every drive we go out for, the world seems to grow brighter and even more beautiful.

Every sunset is more exquisite than the last. The velvety purple of the clouds is offset by sunlit, fiery orange edging, all morphing into colors I can’t even name, and the sunset takes over the entire sky.

When we reach the high places and look all around at the woods and hills and fields below, our breath catches with how fortunate we are to even be here to see and to experience these sacred days and this gorgeous jewel of a planet.

Clouds and trees all have personalities, and we talk to them as we go by, radiating appreciation for being able to share a world with such magically unique expressions of The One.

The animals we drive by elicit cooing sounds and delighted expressions from both of us, and I just know that every time any one of us feels love for anything at all, it sends a delicious pulse of Light out in all directions.

The “more” that I refer to when we’re out driving is about the frequency of Joy and Love. I’m not sure that there’s anything more important that we can do to help things along right now than to do what we can to be happy and to find our joy.

What could be better than that? Our most loving service also happens to be what lights up our hearts with bubbling Joy. That’s a Win/Win for sure.
