Guidance Meditation

Once you can successfully quieten your mind you can move to asking for guidance during your meditation session. You are most welcome to try ask for guidance in your early stages if you feel compelled to, however, my experience is that if you try and take to many steps forward before mastering the steps in front of you it can create confusion and frustration. What I mean by this is that if you cannot quieten your mind, you may make receiving guidance a whole lot harder than it needs to be.

Personally, I have the personality that tries to do everything at once. This was definitely the case when I was introduced to meditation. I tried to perfect quietening my mind and receiving guidance simultaneously which led to some intense frustration for me. While teaching others, I have found that the best results when the individual is able to learn, consolidate and then move forward. Think of it this way, the quieter that you can keep your mind from external influences the clearer the guidance that you get will become for you.

Some of you may wonder where this guidance that we are seeking is going to come from. In order to explain this, I must introduce you to the basic spiritual concept of oneness. It is the concept that everything in creation, including source is one. We are all apart of source on a journey of evolvement. This is reflected in all of the main religions, pertinent in Christianity’s belief that we are all made in the “image of God.” Islam preaches that there shall be “unity in Ummah” due to the Oneness of Allah. Thus, if we are all one with source then we have an ability to tap into everything. This means the ability to tap into higher spiritual realms and receive guidance from more evolved spiritual beings, societies and even source itself.

People regard channeling as a unique ability. It is not. It is the birthright of everyone, you just have to develop it like any other ability. As a tennis player, I like to equate it with tennis practice. The harder the practice and the more variety you have the better you will become at it.

Before you start, it is important to have confidence. Believe that you will receive an answer to the questions that you want asked.

1. Begin by quietening your mind. Focus on your breathe and let everything around you go. Just be in the present moment.

2. Once you are in the moment, allow your spirit to flow through your body and exit through your head up into a bright white light. Allow yourself to become entranced in the light. Allow it to fill your whole being.

3. Once you are there, ask your question that you want answered. It may be guidance on a small issue in your life such as a relationship or on something more substantial such as your purpose in this life.

4. Allow the answer to come in. People sense these answers in different ways, such as symbolic images, voices or by simply feeling or knowing the answer to their question. Don’t have your mind set upon a particular way that the message will come through. In time you can learn how to receive the message through all of these senses, however, for the moment just go with and accept your natural talent. You have it for a reason.

5. Once you have got all of the answers you desire, don’t forget to ground yourself back into your body. If you feel yourself feeling dizzy  lightheaded or simply off after a guidance session, it is usually because your spirit has not grounded itself in its body properly. To fix this, visualize your spirit grounding itself in your body once again.

This tool is the most powerful tool that you will develop throughout your spiritual journey. It is a point of knowledge where you can learn new things. Somewhere where you can receive guidance and support in hard times. Use it to your advantage.
