There is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
Well it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know, I'm one
Well Mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Or you'll spend your life in sin and misery
In the house of the Rising Sun
Well there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
Well it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know, I'm one
They call the Rising Sun
Well it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know, I'm one
Well Mother, tell your children
Not to do what I have done
Or you'll spend your life in sin and misery
In the house of the Rising Sun
Well there is a house in New Orleans
They call the Rising Sun
Well it's been the ruin of many a poor boy
And God, I know, I'm one

it is designed to be dissident to cause discomfort. the essence is to feel uncomfortable, listen to the lyrics, then understand the message.
love through pain =)
..its a folk tune from England from 1600's or 1700's.... and traveled its way to America with the imigrants...some say the lyrics have been put at 18th century, and that the earliest recording of the song, is around 1930...
and this is one of Woody Guthrie's version... its one of the earliest recordings of this song...
oh wait. yes I did.
lol.
Neat - but I prefer the older version, even though it's older than recording devices.
Shelly - thank you for demanding an explanation!
This song is about pain. About the pain a boy went through.
This boy became a man. This man will become a father.
This father is pleading to the mothers to not make the same mistakes his parents made.
To learn from them.
So that they may rise anew.
A new sun, for a new son.
One that doesn't scorch or burn.
One that gives life and hope.
Making any sense? =)
...his point must be, that Muse is a very spiritual group, with many spiritual meanings, playing extreme spiritual songs...
...just like some people like to post Lady Gaga's spiritual meaning songs... some other people like to post Muse's spiritual songs......and who knows, maybe tomorrow some others would like to post heavy metal band's "Judas Priest" songs... because they feel pretty spiritual to them....
... but im not sure about all of this... Zanndo can explain better his reasons for posting it.....this was just my guess.... ;)
