Someone asked me why I don't give conspiracies a chance. I just ran across a couple of sites. One claims that the Earth is actually flat and the other claims nuclear weapons don't exist. Also ran across a few Youtube vids claiming that dinosaurs never existed. They all say that there are conspiracies involved.
Idiocy like that is an example of why I don't give them a chance. I don't know about anyone else, but I happen to value my brain. I value it a lot, so I don't like filling it with nonsense. Yes, I'm open minded, and I'm very aware that gov'ts have been involved with legitimate conspiracies. But I will not give unfounded conspiracy hypotheses my time. Btw, they aren't theories, theories have been proven, a hypothesis hasn't. I told him that my top criteria is hard evidence. Not horrid and mistaken interpretations of myths and legends, and definitely not bible code type crap, etc. And to be frank, I don't understand why people don't have really high standards when it comes to such things. People let themselves believe photoshopped images are legit and they believe audio clips taken out of context about a supposed nwo. And I still don't get the fear over Satanists. Cowards. The lot of them.

Personally I've tuned out from the whole conspiracy-scence since I found that most conspiracy theorists are contradicting each other, but when questioned they all gang up on the skeptic in concert even though they internally doesn't agree with each other at all. One claim this happened while another claim that happened, but when questioned, they come together as one and claim the one questioning it all is the one who's wrong, even if they're unable to explain why he's wrong.
The only thing that can cure a conspiracy theorist is if he himself becomes a survivor of a terrorist attack and loose a limb or two or a loved one, only to be accused of being an actor, on youtube later on. That would teach him well and possibly also make him quesiton whether his previous claims, about actors and fake shootings, were wise or not. ;)
