Reincarnation and Past Life Memories

It’s hard to say how many people worldwide believe in reincarnation but in 2009 the Pew Research Center did a survey and found that 24% of the American population and 22% of Christians believe in reincarnation. With near death experiences being so prevalent today I believe more and more people will start believing and accepting of reincarnation and past lives.

Here are some famous people who also believed in reincarnation...

Mahatma Ghandi: "I cannot think of permanent enmity between man and man, and believing as I do in the theory of reincarnation, I live in the hope that if not in this birth, in some other birth I shall be able to hug all of humanity in friendly embrace."

Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The soul comes from without into the human body, as into a temporary abode, and it goes out of it anew it passes into other habitations, for the soul is immortal." "It is the secret of the world that all things subsist and do not die, but only retire a little from sight and afterwards return again. Nothing is dead; men feign themselves dead, and endure mock funerals and there they stand looking out of the window, sound and well, in some strange new disguise."

General George S. Patton: "So as through a glass and darkly, the age long strife I see, Where I fought in many guises, many names, but always me."

Albert Schweitzer: "Reincarnation contains a most comforting explanation of reality by means of which Indian thought surmounts difficulties which baffle the thinkers of Europe."

Walt Whitman: "I know I am deathless. No doubt I have died myself ten thousand times before. I laugh at what you call dissolution, and I know the amplitude of time."

William Wordsworth: "Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting; The Soul that rises with us, our life's Star, Hath had elsewhere its setting. And cometh from afar."

Jalalu Rumi (Islamic Poet of the 13th century): "I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as a plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was man. Why should I fear ? When was I less by dying?"

Carl Jung: "My life often seemed to me like a story that has no beginning and no end. I had the feeling that I was an historical fragment, an excerpt for which the preceding and succeeding text was missing. I could well imagine that I might have lived in former centuries and there encountered questions I was not yet able to answer; that I had been born again because I had not fulfilled the task given to me."8109162081?profile=original

Since 24% of Americans believe in reincarnation we can ascertain there is a certain number of people who will spontaneously remember their past lives, while it's only through hypnosis that others can remember theirs. Dolores Cannon a famous hypnotherapist and Dr. Brian L. Weiss a psychotherapist have helped thousands of people discover their past lives through past life regression...then there are those who remember and experience their past lives through their dreams.

When my son was 6 he had a dream about being in the civil war...when he told me about it I could tell the dream still had him in it's grip and he was visibly upset. He told me he and the men he was with had just been in a terrible battle. He could smell smoke and blood and hear men crying and moaning...he could see dead bodies everywhere and one of his best friends had been killed [my son became emotional at this point]...he said he was sitting on the ground resting because he was very tired and thirsty but that he had no water. I asked him if he was wearing a uniform and if so what color it was? He said it was dark blue but that it was dirty and there was blood on it.  I asked if it was his blood but he didn't think so.

I knew my son was too young to know that much about the civil war but his dream was so detailed and one he actually experienced in the dream state that I believed it was a past life memory and now that he's older he does too...his dream left a lasting impression on him and it's one he'll never forget.

I too have had dreams about past lives and these dreams are so real and different it'd be hard to deny they're not past life memories. So, if you've had dreams that come out of nowhere, that seem so real yet have no relation to the life you are now experiencing more than likely it could be a past life memory.

If any of you or anyone you know has experienced past life memories I'd love for you to share them with us.

Thank you and Love,

  • Uhhuh~I've always believed we'd be with our beloved pets again so your story makes perfect sense to me. I'm so happy you've been reunited with your pup! :)

  • When my dog died, I went to a psychic to contact our dead dog.

The psychic said that our dog will come back again once we're ready "for another dog"...

Years later, our new dog gave birth and there's this one puppy who resembles very much our dead dog.

He got the same eyes,  personality and demeanor.

We knew our dog is back. We named the puppy same as our  dead dog.

  • John, I believe we meet with others we've been with before more than we realize it but your experience is unique because this is something you planned on happening and it did. I think it's wonderful!

Yes, I'm the crazy weird one in my family [sigh] so I certainly do know how it feels but hey, there is nothing in the world wrong with that. ;)

I love hearing these stories...thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks,

Even when we worked together we sat together, his desk was on the left and my desk was on the right - just like in 2nd grade!

I wonder if this kinda stuff happens often or are we unique?

Maybe it was because we were so young and believed it would work?

Unfortunately - i can remember him but he can't remember me.

He has a hard time dealing with me but he doesn't know why.

I'm 8 years older than him, he died when he was 8 and i was 7.

Nice to talk about it cause lots of folks think I'm crazy (you might know whats that's like - hehehe).

    Thanks for listening.

    Peace, love and happiness.

  • Awesome, John...what an excellent story! Wow! I love it!

  • My best friend died in 2nd grade from leukemia.  We didn't want to part so his mother told him he would be reborn and we could meet again as adults. We picked out the country we would meet in and the jobs we would do and his mother picked out the city. 40 years later i met this guy in the same country (the other side of the earth). We had the same occupation, worked at the same place and lived in the same city his mom picked out. He has the same European and arabic traits that Jim had, the same looks and the same personality (except he's bigger now).

It worked! Do I believe in reincarnation? - you bet I do!

  • So interesting. Malcolm...thanks for sharing. I bet you were a nasty Liberal in another life. ha ha ha

  • I recommend moldavite crystal for past life information and reconciliations.

I am 99.9% sure I was a U.S. wild west gunslinger in my past life, and died while trying to defend myself (and I had the same dream twice of being killed (with the lights going out immediately when the other guy shot); the opposing party "had the drop on me" ). I've never shot an animal, never shot a person, and never wanted to. I do like to shoot beer bottles, cans of hair spray, and cans of beer (and in a safe environment where nobody can get hurt).

I am not a "gun nut," and I support strict jail sentences or fines for those who fail to demonstrate proper safety, security, and responsible use with all and any firearms, knives, crow bars, and similar objects. These are all objects that should never be used to harm innocent lives, regardless of the circumstances.

  • Interesting stories, Phylos. We probably are the first wave. I never did like math but would find the answers the way I wanted and like you even though I would get the correct answers I went about it all wrong and I guess because of that I just gave up on math...I was tired of being told I had the right answer but my method was all wrong so after that I did just what I had to to get by. I like to think we were a head of our time. :)

  • I wonder if I may be part of the first wave that Delores Cannon talks about? In grade school, something interesting happened in arithmetic class, 3rd grade. The teacher put a problem on the board of a kind he hadn't taught yet and asked the class if anyone could give the answer. I looked at it, moved the numbers in what seemed to be to me the most sensible way of doing it around in my head for a few seconds, found the answer and raised my hand. Teach wasn't expecting anyone to actually do large number multiplication in their head and he ignored my hand for a few long seconds. Finally, he asked me what I wanted. I told him the answer. It was correct. He was surprised. He asked me how I got the answer so quickly, so I told him how I did it. He completely couldn't understand at all. So, I explained again in complete detail just how I moved the numbers around to quickly and easily find the answer. He still couldn't understand, took offence, accused me of being a "smarty" trying to disrupt his class and told me I must of gotten the answer before class from someone else, so I was cheating. Anyway, if I had gotten the answer myself, it was just a lucky guess or a fluke and the way I did it was all wrong and he was going to show us how to do it right and I was supposed to shut up, listen up and never try to do it that way again. The punch line here is--- A few years ago I was helping my nephew with his math homework because he knew I was pretty good with numbers and they are now teaching the way I used to get that answer several decades ago when I was a 3rd grader. They call it "new math". It works because numbers have individual characteristics and qualities that they were overlooking for so many years but that 3rd grader knew it and that teacher was a narrow minded dork!
