We’ve heard many times how Mainstream Media is out to scare us into following the plans of the cabal, and how our best defense is to tune out and turn off. But what then?
Where do we find our news? How do we entertain ourselves? Well, apart from using that as a great opportunity to reconnect with friends and family and nature, there’s a wealth of productive media options that support us, rather than scare us.
This article shares just a few.
When looking for positive news, it’s hard to go past Positive News, a UK-based website that focuses on what’s right with the world, rather than what’s wrong.
The Good News Network has a similarly-encouraging focus, covering good news from around the world. It’s hard to spend any time reading their site without feeling better!
Even the Huffington Post has joined the Light Side of the Force, with their section called Huffpost Good News. They might not be mainstream yet, but they’re very popular, and their influence is growing.
So good news is good. How about entertainment?
The Spiritual Cinema Circle offers positive films and documentaries via DVD, and was started about a decade ago by Hollywood producer Stephen Simon, who produced such spiritual films as Somewhere In Time and What Dreams May Come.
Another group called The Spiritual Cinema Alliance has a similar focus, offering lots of great information, along with a list of recommended films.
There are many other helpful websites out there recommending uplifting films, but I’ll refrain from listing all of them here because I don’t want to overwhelm you!
But if you’re curious, do a Google search for ‘spiritual film cinema’ and explore.
What about Hollywood? How can we discover the small vein of uplifting films hidden among the usual empty, special-effects blockbusters? That’s a question I’ve always had, that lead me to write the Feel Good Film Blog.
Each post discusses a particular film’s nice bits, nasty bits, and naughty bits, and a summary of the film, plot, actors, genre, etc. While we might not always agree on every film, I’m sure there are many that will bring a warm smile to your face.
I’m a sucker for romance, and a good comedy, and most of the comedies I review have depth and heart as well, so the laughs aren’t just empty making fun of people.
If you’ve enjoyed such titles are Groundhog Day, the Princess Bride, or Love Actually, then you might find a few more films to enjoy by reading this blog.
One final resource: laughDB, which is much like the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) but for comedy only. It covers film, TV, and stand up.
The bottom line? There’s a huge variety of positive substitutes for the usual negative, depressing media diet we see in Mainstream Media.
So there’s no reason not to be entertained!
