Sharon Cheney: Manifesting

Dear friends, it is income tax time so many people are focused on money matters at this time. How we feel about money is more of a mindset than what we have in the bank. Even those who do not have a lot of money can still feel abundant if they feel positive about themselves.

Wealth is a relative thing. Some people may have a lot of it and still feel there is never enough, while others who have little can feel blessed. I believe our thoughts about abundance or a lack thereof are connected to our beliefs about ourselves and the family values we have been brought up with.

When we fail to get what we want in life, it is often due to a belief that we don’t deserve to have our desires manifested. We may believe we lack the ability to manifest what we want and must remain dependent on others to get what we want such as love or money. Some people don’t know what they want or believe they are unlucky or that there is a curse on them. Others believe it is their karma to be poor or that they need to work hard and struggle for everything they have.

Often our biggest problem in manifesting our desires is being able to love ourselves enough to be open to receiving. A lot of times what we want may be starring us in the face but we cannot have it because we are unable to let it in. This can be due to low self-esteem, believing we don’t deserve it or that we are being punished for something we have done or failed to do.

If we think of money as love, how open are we to receiving it and believing what we give out will return to us in spades? Beliefs have a huge impact on being able to manifest our desires so it would be wise to take a good look at your beliefs and see what is standing in your way to having it all.

Ask yourself if you feel you deserve to have all that you dream of or if you are judgmental about yourself. Would you feel guilty having more in your life? Would you worry that if you got what you wanted that it would be yours only for a short time? That something or someone would take it away leaving you with feelings of loss? Do you fear you would be unable to cope with this loss and therefore do not allow good things in? Do you believe you can only be lucky once? We truly are limited by our beliefs and often remain dependent on others to get what we want or maintain what we have.

Another question to ask yourself is “How will having more abundance change your life?” Will having more money make you feel successful inside or in the eyes of others? Will you use money to buy material possessions to impress others with your status? If you suddenly had a lot of money, what would you do with it? Would you just buy a lot of stuff or would you use it to help others? These questions may seem irrelevant if you don’t have a lot of money but it the answers say a lot about how you feel about your relationship to money and how you feel about yourself.

As an exercise, take a moment to quiet your mind and think about having whatever you desire and notice what thoughts come to mind. Do you feel fearful, undeserving or are telling yourself this will never happen to you? These are your limiting beliefs. If no negative thoughts come to mind, then imagine yourself ordering what you want from the universe just like you would in a restaurant and put a date on when you want your order to arrive. It is as simple as that.

When doing this, remember not to limit your receiving in any manner. See yourself as a basket just waiting to be filled with whatever you want. If your desires don’t immediately manifest, ask that they come at the perfect time when you are fully ready to receive them.

If you believe you are one with God, then manifesting whatever you want should not be a problem. After all, if God can manifest All That Is, what is preventing us from getting what we want except our limiting beliefs about ourselves and life? The answer is really nothing. The problem is that most of us do not see ourselves as powerful creators. We have been conditioned by our religious or family beliefs to believe that God is all-powerful and we are not. That to even think of ourselves as Gods would be egotistic and result in punishment.
