En eso que en broma llamamos el pasado, la Guía del autoestopista galáctico teníamucho que decir sobre el tema de los universos paralelos. No obstante, muy pocosaspectos de la cuestión resultan comprensibles para quien esté por debajo del nivel deDios Avanzado, y como ya está perfectamente demostrado que todos los diosesconocidos cobraron existencia unas tres millonésimas de segundo después del inicio deluniverso y no la semana anterior, como ellos mismos solían afirmar, ahora, tal como estánlas cosas, tienen mucho que explicar y, por consiguiente, de momento no están encondiciones de comentar asuntos de física profunda.Una cosa alentadora que la Guía tiene que decir con respecto a los universos paraleloses que no hay ni la más remota posibilidad de comprenderlos. En consecuencia, puededecirse «¿Qué?» y «¿Eh?», incluso quedarse bizco y ponerse a hablar por los codos sintemor a quedar en ridículo.Lo primero que hay que entender de los universos paralelos, dice la Guía, es que noson paralelos.También es importante comprender que, estrictamente hablando, tampoco sonuniversos, pero eso resulta más fácil si se trata de entenderlo un poco después, cuandose haya comprendido que todo lo que se ha entendido hasta ese momento no es cierto.Y no son universos debido a que todo universo dado no es realmente una cosa en sí,sino una forma de enfocar lo que técnicamente se conoce como TCRG, o Toda Clase deRevoltijo General, que tampoco existe realmente, sino que es la suma total de todas lasdiversas formas de enfocarlo en caso de que tuviese una existencia real.Y no son paralelos por la misma razón por la que el mar no es paralelo.
