Who is Archangel Michael

I am trying to clarify just who is Archangel Michael, I have been told that he is Jesus but I disagree. Someone straighten this out for me please.

God or Goddess have many names and many personalities or bodies that have served their purpose and serve their purpose in our worlds, even one god realized body may be known by several different names...and as Shakespeare wrote..."what's in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
