Thank you, hellen...Dozer is getting up in years but he can still be feisty. Dozer quite honestly is a real sweetheart and has never snapped at anyone though he does not like the UPS man all that much. :) Now Dolly my Lab is very protective when it comes to me which can be a problem sometimes....she's a Sagittarius. Dozer was my oldest son's dog so do not know when he was born.
I once had a lilac point Siamese cat who was so jealous of any attention I gave my husband that he'd walk up sand pee on his foot. LOL Animals have the greatest personalities.
Yes, hellen that is so true and I forgot about how they help the sick and elderly. I love the story about your cat. I have an Old English bulldog who is the most bullheaded thing you've ever seen but he is a sweetheart. Anyway, many times he will come in my room and just stare at my bookcase and since he cannot read I can only assume he sees something I do not....though I wish I could. :)
This is Dozer...
Your very welcome, Mikeil and thank you for sharing your love for animals and your wise words.
Dolly allowed me to wrap her up like that because she was so tiny and just a baby and like human babies they love being swaddled. None of my cats would have allowed that either...they're way too independent for that.
Part of the joy our animals bring are remembering all those good memories. We had a cat named Morris...he was my husband's cat and no matter how hard I tried I could not get him to come to me or sit on my lap. However, one day I came home from work and was preparing dinner when I started feeling faint and getting a terrible feeling I was dying [an anxiety attack] so I went and laid down and Morris jumped on the bed, climbed upon my chest and put his nose to mine and kept it there until the attack passed....it was like he was saying I'm here for you and you're going to be okay. From that day on he received very special treatment from me. The day he passed was a very sad day but I was with him the whole time so he would not be alone. Gosh, I think I'm going to cry...but I truly believe our animals go to heaven and we'll see them again.
Thanks for letting me rattle, Mikeil...so great meeting another animal lover.
Mikeil...my parents believed they were just too much trouble though we were allowed a dog at one time but my brother and I were entirely too young to properly care for it. We came home from school one day and he was gone and never allowed another one.
When my children were very young I got them whatever pet they wanted and they are such animal lovers. My daughter is a barrel racer and has several horses besides cats and dogs. When she was younger I accused her of loving animals more than humans but after having Dolly, my black Lab, I can understand why. I love her just as much as I do any of my children. When I'm sick she will come and lay in bed with me which gives me great comfort especially knowing she does it because she loves for me so much. I've had her since she was 2 weeks old, I bottle fed her and I'd wrap her in a baby blanket and I'd hold her like a baby when I'd watch tee vee. One day my youngest son said "mom that dog is not going to be that size forever." I said she will not get that large..well, she is 80 lbs and is nearly as large as I am...she's a real beauty. I always picture her going with me...whether it's on a ship or a new planet or staying here...I know we'll be together. I could be here all day telling you what she's taught me. :)
So very true, Mikeil. I was never allowed pets as a child but several years ago a black Lab chose me and my life has not been the same since so I now see what I missed all the years before. If man would just love and respect animals they could teach us so many worthwhile lessons.
