Vimanas (pronounced vimans) in Sanskrit, these flying vehicles appear throughout India's ancient texts, especially in combat sequences, when gods and divine beings battle their enemies high above the earth.In the Ramayana (4th century BC), the Hindu sacred book recounting how God Rama rescues his wife Sita from the evil Raavan, vimana experts cite the flying chariot called the Pushpaka vimana.
