Why call them "Illuminati" when lumen means light in latin? It sounds like the word "Illuminate."

"The dark cabal" is more fitting since they are sinister, hidden and secret.
The word "Illuminati" gives me the wrong picture. I always prefer calling them "the dark cabal."
